Ensemble - Grades 3-8
I want to take a moment to share my thoughts in a very broad sense about the Ensemble program - the specificities of each Grade will be shared with their chosen repertoire. Playing in an ensemble is the reflection of an ecology. Private lessons, personal practice, and presence. The synchronicity of this collective energy is essential and I want to support each wing for your child.
The Ensemble space is the genesis of chamber music skills. Listening with empathy, joining a collective, working as a unit, being sensitive to those around you, in short : up and alert antennae. And through any number of warm ups, exercises and playful games we are speaking to this at each grade level. Secondly it is the space in which we discover group sound. The immersion of sound as a wash over the body as we sit amongst other players. Blend, resonance and physical awareness of how to integrate and contribute to that sound is also a pillar being addressed.
Beyond that the music itself offers endless teachings. Language, history, culture, color, shape, architecture, poetry, and the list goes on and on.
